Christopher J. Berghoff

While practicing law over the last 25 years, Chris has focused his practice on the idea of helping individuals and families with all of their legal needs. This has ranged from pursuing claims for personal injuries arising from medical malpractice, preparing estate plans to meet a client’s needs, representing executors and trustees, defending and pursuing will and trust contests, representing guardians of minors and disabled adults, assisting clients in residential and commercial real estate transactions, acting as corporate counsel for family businesses, and numerous other matters for which a family may need his assistance and expertise. Often Chris is the first point of contact for the families and individuals he represents and takes pride in being able to resolve their problems efficiently and economically. Chris strives to provide value for his clients with his services.

Chris received his law degree from the University of Illinois College of Law in 1989 and his bachelor of arts degree from Denison University in 1986. Following several years of practice with a large firm doing primarily civil litigation, he went into practice with his father, Robert A. Berghoff, becoming partners in 1996 and forming Berghoff and Berghoff, Ltd. in 2005.

Robert A. Berghoff (1937-2016)

Robert Berghoff practiced law in Chicago for fifty years. He founded Robert A. Berghoff and Associates , in 1982, which became Berghoff and Berghoff in 1996.  His primary focus during much of his career was serving client's needs in the areas of trust and estate administration, probate and estate planning. He  served on numerous civic and charitable boards, including serving as the president of Smith Village in Chicago.

He received his law degree, a Juris Doctor, from the University of Chicago and his undergraduate degree from Northwestern University. He was married for over 50 years and had three children and six grandchildren. His son Christopher joined him in the practice of law in 1991 and they worked together until his retirement in 2014.
